Curtis Smith
Glenville Class of 2005

University of Cincinnati
");

By David Baugh

Cleveland Glenville has produced some solid talent at the skill positions, but lately they have started developing some solid defensive lineman.  Recently, Robert Rose emerged as one of the nation's elite defensive ends in the country, but if you go back a year, there is Curtis Smith.  While he didn't quite attract the attention that Rose did, but Smith was as good as they come on the defensive line.  At 6'2, 240 pounds, he had a nice explosion of the line of scrimmage.  His combination of size, speed, and quickness made it extremely difficult for opposing offensive linemen to defend him.  With so much talent on the Glenville roster, it wasn't always a safe bet to double team Smith either.  Because of that, he was in opposing backfields as much as the tailbacks, making play after play on a weekly basis/  He accepted a football scholarship to Cincinnati.
